Mouhoun: Burkina Suudu Bawdè, known as the House of Skills of Burkina, organized a regional information and communication day in Dédougou, targeting learners, schoolchildren, and students of Boucle du Mouhoun. The event took place on November 6, 2024, and was presided over by Adjara Sandrine Kientéga / Ouédraogo, the secretary general of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, representing the regional governor.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the packed room in Dédougou was filled with attendees eager to learn about the opportunities provided by Burkina Suudu Bawdè (BSB). The day aimed to raise awareness about the institution’s role as Burkina Faso’s primary public operator in developing technical and professional skills. The event sought to inform youth and professionals about the training opportunities available at BSB, which are designed to facilitate rapid integration into the job market.
The regional information day further aimed to update companies, public and private partners, and education stakehold
ers about BSB’s efforts in workforce qualification and skill promotion. The initiative also focused on communicating the various programs, courses, and services offered by BSB’s professional training centers throughout the country. Strengthening BSB’s image among national partners was also a priority, with the goal of attracting support and mobilizing additional resources.
Pierre Ouédraogo, BSB’s director of information and orientation, emphasized the importance of making information accessible to the public. He highlighted that BSB offers training in 144 professions across nine fields, ranging from civil engineering to agri-food, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. This broad spectrum provides numerous opportunities for capacity building.
Dieudonné Tougfo, President of the special delegation of the commune of Dédougou, encouraged young people to engage in vocational training, entrepreneurship, job creation, and the local consumption of products. Adjara Sandrine Kientéga / Ouédraogo, the sec
retary general of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, noted that despite BSB’s many offerings, they remain relatively unknown to potential beneficiaries, especially women and youth in the region.
The regional authority, in collaboration with relevant technical services, has committed to continuing efforts to inform and raise awareness of BSB’s opportunities among populations, youth, and stakeholders in various economic sectors. Established in July 2023, BSB is a realization of the vision of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, addressing the employment crisis and underemployment among the youth. BSB’s mission is to support government policy in developing technical and professional skills, solidifying its role as a key public operator in Burkina Faso.
