Burkina: Suspicions of waste oils transformed into edible oils and formalin used in fish preservation

Faced with the risks of diseases including cancer, the Ministry of Health urged citizens to denounce to (+226) 25 37 32 32, any traders who engage in transformation of waste oil into edible oil; but also those who would use formalin to preserve fish.
The National Agency for Health Safety, Environment, Food, Work and Health Products (ANSSEAT) says it has been notified of suspicions relating to the presence of oils on Burkinabè markets. food produced from the processing of engine drain oils, we read in a press release sent to the AIB on Monday.
According to the former National Public Health Laboratory (LNSP), individuals also use formalin for the transport and preservation of fish, in order to supplement faulty or non-existent cold systems.
According to ANSSEAT, the consumption of the oils in question leads to carcinogenic diseases and the consumption of fish contaminated with formalin presents health risks for populations.
While waiting to verify the veracity of these suspicions, the Agency, led by Professor Elie Kabré, urged citizens to contact (+226) 25 37 32 32 to denounce possible traders who engage in these types of practices.
