Burkina: Studies are underway to make Bobo-Dioulasso airport a major reference airport in West Africa (Prime Minister)

Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Joackimson Kyélem de Tambèla, indicated Tuesday morning before the Transition Parliament in Ouagadougou, that studies are underway to make Bobo-Dioulasso airport a major reference airport in West Africa.

“Bobo-Dioulasso airport is now operational 24 hours a day, and meets international standards. Studies are underway to make it a major reference airport in West Africa,” Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Joackimson Kyélem de Tambèla said on Tuesday to Burkinabe deputies.

The head of government delivered this Tuesday morning his speech on the situation of the Nation before the Transitional Legislative Assembly. This is an exercise provided for by the Constitution of Burkina Faso, which provides in its article 109 that: “The Prime Minister explains directly to the deputies, the situation of the Nation (…). This presentation is followed by debates and does not give rise to any vote.

Me Apollinaire Joackimson Kyélem de Tambèla affirmed that the government is also seeking to find a lasting solution for ”the national airline” Air Burkina. He said the government is also in talks with other airlines ”to promote the Burkina Faso destination”. “We are exploring all the possibilities for a better opening up and a better influence of Burkina Faso”, he insisted.

In the field of rail transport, Me Apollinaire Joackimson Kyélem de Tambèla stressed that “the study of the Bobo-Dioulasso-Sikasso railway project is underway, as well as other lines across the country”. According to him, the Accra-Ouagadougou lines, as well as that of Lomé-Ouagadougou are not left out because, “Ghanans and Togolese are also interested in them”.

“At the level of road infrastructure, in addition to the rehabilitation or asphalting works in progress or already carried out, a network of the territory in asphalted roads is in advanced project”, he said. The objective, according to the head of government “is to make all major centers accessible to facilitate the movement of goods and people. It will be a question for us of making bitumen in multilayers capable of resisting time”.

Me Kyélem announced in this regard, the asphalting of several national and regional roads, in particular those of Gounghê-Fada-Niger border, the Fada-Bogandé, Tougan-Lanfiéra, Koudougou-Solenzo, Dori-Gorom, Zorgho-Mégué, Gaoua roads. -Batié, Ouahigouya-Djibo, Kalwartenga-Boulsa, Dandé-Kourouma. He specified that the Dori-Sébba road is also under study.

According to him, the government also has in view the rehabilitation of the Pâ-Dano-Diébougou and Bobo-Orodara sections, the work of which is already underway. “Work is planned in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso to make traffic more fluid,” he concluded.
