Burkina Sanitation Initiative: Minister Poda Urges Civic Action at Gare de l’Est

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Commerce, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, called on the population and users of the Gare de l’Est in Ouagadougou to engage in civic actions to enhance their well-being during a health day event initiated by his department.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister’s appeal was made on Saturday as part of a sanitation day organized by his department in collaboration with local authorities, traditional leaders, the citizen watch, and the green brigade. The event aimed to promote public awareness of actions contributing to the development of the Burkinabe people. Minister Poda emphasized the importance of order and discipline at the station, urging the community to engage in simple actions that foster citizenship.



During his address, Minister Poda linked the activity to the first 2025 edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) launched by President Ibrahim Traor©. He highlighted the significance of hygiene for the well-being, respect, and image of the population and encouraged the adoption of civic acts in all areas of life.



The President of the Special Delegation of District 5, Issa D©m©, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce for its efforts to improve the health and appearance of the station. He noted that executive meetings resulted in commitments to eliminate waste and maintain cleanliness at the station.



Antoine Kabore, president of the Union of Passenger Road Transporters at Gare de l’Est, praised the sanitation operation and mentioned plans to collaborate with the municipality of Ouagadougou to ensure the station remains clean and secure for the public’s benefit.
