Burkina-Niger Episcopal Conference Calls for Prayers for Peace Amid Terrorist Attacks

BOULSA – Christian communities in Burkina Faso and Niger have responded to a call from the Burkina-Niger Episcopal Conference, beginning three days of prayer on Thursday to seek peace in the region following an increase in terrorist attacks. The prayers are being held at the Sainte Maria Goretti parish in Boulsa.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the prayer program, which runs from September 12 to 14, includes ordinary masses, rosaries, fasting, and confessions, with the third day dedicated to a special mass and prayers for peace. The initiative was inspired by a pastoral letter from Monsignor Théophile Naré, Bishop of Kaya, who urged Christians to pray for the conversion of hearts and the end of violence, particularly after the massacre in Barsalogho in August.

The parish priest, Constant Ouédraogo, encouraged the faithful to actively participate in the prayer program, with many, like Michel Koudougou, expressing hope that their prayers for peace will be heard.
