Burkina Minister Calls on Women to Strengthen Social Cohesion

Ziniar©: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Gilbert Ou©draogo, urged women in Ziniar© to fully take their place in society by working to rebuild social ties and strengthen social cohesion. "Today we are in a context where we are working to further strengthen social cohesion. We believe that women must be able to take their place, play the role that is truly theirs, that is, work to mend our social ties, to strengthen social cohesion, which already begins in the family unit, in the workplace, and in society in general," the minister said.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Ou©draogo was speaking at the Women's Museum in Ziniar©, on the occasion of the celebration of May 15, a day dedicated to customs and traditions. To mark the event, he visited the Women's Museum to pay tribute to "our mothers, our sisters and our wives" and remind them that they are the pillars of society.

The museum highlights the different stages of women's lives as well as their actions in traditional society, actions oriented towards peace and social cohesion. "What caught my attention was the woman as an actor of social cohesion. The symbol of the broken calabash, sewn back together by the woman, is a very powerful message," he added.

This visit by the Minister is also part of the 3rd edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month activities. To this end, he invited his fellow citizens to explore the country's rich cultural heritage through museums, palaces and other tourist sites. 'We have a very rich and varied heritage, and we have much to teach others. But we cannot teach or share our cultural heritage if we do not know it ourselves.'
