Ouagadougou, Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo has been appointed archbishop of the archdiocese of Ouagadougou, AIB learned on Monday.
The announcement was made by the Pope’s representative in Burkina Faso, Monsignor Michael Crotty at Ouagadougou Cathedral.
His appointment comes after the acceptance by the Holy See of the resignation of Cardinal Philippe Ouédraogo, struck by the age limit.
Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo was previously the bishop of the diocese of Tenkodogo.
