MANGA: The Minister of Infrastructure, Adama Luc Sorgho, officially launched phase 2 of the government’s social measures for 2024 in Manga, aimed at generating 800 temporary jobs through the High Labor Intensity Works (THIMO) program. This initiative focuses on improving the living environment and providing employment opportunities for vulnerable populations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, following the successful implementation of phase 1, which generated 1,000 temporary jobs across five municipalities from February to July 2024, phase 2 will extend to Manga, Ziniaré, Koudougou, Gaoua, and Banfora. The project will run from November 7, 2024, to May 7, 2025, targeting young people, women, and internally displaced persons as primary beneficiaries.

The Permanent Secretary of TRHIMO, Captain Ollo Palenfo, detailed the work scope, including manual cleaning of infrastructure, clearing, road maintenance, and public space sanitation. The state has allocated 45 million CFA francs for necessary tools and p
rotective equipment to aid the brigadiers.

Additionally, the 800 participants will receive a monthly allowance of 45,000 CFA francs, accident insurance, and vaccinations against tetanus and typhoid fever. Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, Mikaïlou Sidibé, noted the program’s significance in advancing urban development and infrastructure.

Beneficiaries like Elysée Bouda and Lucien Bouda highlighted the dual benefits of employment and environmental improvements for local communities. Yazouma Berenger Bihoun, president of the special delegation of Manga, expressed gratitude for the initiative, citing previous challenges in securing local support due to budget constraints.

The government’s social measures are seen as a timely intervention to address environmental and economic challenges faced by the municipalities involved.
