Burkina: Judicial actors want to abandon imported costumes for others in traditional cotton fabrics
Ouagadougou, June 15, 2023 (AIB) - Judicial actors in Burkina Faso are thinking about changing their imported costumes into others that promote traditional cotton fabrics and Burkinabè and African values, the AIB learned on Thursday.
“I asked everyone to come, we will share the idea together, discuss how can we best implement it, so that we have an audience costume that reflects our values African values, our Burkinabè values", indicated the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, in charge of Relations with Institutions, Keeper of the Seals, Bibata Nébié/Ouédraogo.
Bibata Nébié spoke on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Ouagadougou, on the sidelines of a reflection workshop on the use of Faso Danfani and other local cotton fabrics for making courtroom costumes for judicial actors.
According to her, this day of reflection is part of the promotion of "local consumption", advocated by the Transition. This will make it possible to no longer use imported materials for the making of costumes and gowns for justice actors, said Ms. Nébié.
According to him, the impact of Faso Danfani's option for the making of costumes for judicial actors may seem somewhat derisory, both economically, but the expected social impact exceeds simple economic profit.
She indicated that she expects from this workshop, recommendations from these actors for the implementation of the initiative.
“The working gown is generally black for lower courts and courts of appeal. The red togas are ceremonial outfits. And other colors for ceremonial wear,” she quoted.
“For the affirmation of our identity and to encourage local production, craftsmen and creators, a decree relating to the port of Faso Danfani and the Kokodonda was adopted during the Council of Ministers of Bobo-Dioulasso on April 28th. It supervises and stimulates the use of local cotton in the manufacture of clothing. All bodies of society are concerned”, recalled Bibata Nébié, quoting the Prime Minister before the Transitional Legislative Assembly on May 30, 2023.
