Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Kyélem de Tambèla, indicated Tuesday in Ouagadougou, that Burkina has finally found “a good general” in the person of the President, Ibrahim Traoré, praising the security evolution of the country since the president came to power.

“As they say, when you have a good general, you have good soldiers. The good general, we have finally found him, he is our president. With him, hope is reborn, and we are convinced that organized crime and insecurity will soon be nothing more than a bad memory in Burkina,” Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Joackimson Kyélem of Tambèla said on Tuesday morning.

The head of government delivered this Tuesday morning his speech on the situation of the Nation before the Transitional Legislative Assembly. This is an exercise provided for by the Constitution of Burkina Faso, which provides in its article 109 that: “The Prime Minister explains directly to the deputies, the situation of the Nation (…). This presentation is followed by debates and does not give rise to any vote.

For Me Apollinaire Joackimson Kyélem de Tambèla, when Captain Ibrahim Traoré came to power (September 30, 2022), “he found himself confronted with the reality (…namely) that the country did not have an army worthy of the current challenges”.

“Not only were the numbers reduced in relation to the challenges to be met, but the motivation of the fighting forces was weakened by a lack of leadership,” he said.

In the opinion of the head of government, “In addition, the elements (soldiers) that were sent to the battlefields, sometimes did not even know each other”. “In the same unit, no one knew what the other was capable of. It was therefore difficult to speak of complicity and coordination for specific objectives,” he said.

For him, the armament was also lacking, the available stock was badly maintained and badly managed and “the soldiers passed the weapons, sometimes defective, in turn, to go to the front”.

However, the Prime Minister reassured that “at present, thanks to the interpersonal skills of President Traoré, each soldier can have his weapon and ammunition, as well as each of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and the Security Forces interior”.

He said that “the endowments have started and are continuing. Not only was equipment acquired, but it was acquired at relatively low cost,” he insisted.

For the head of government, it is now a matter of forming a real army with organized combat units, made up of elements who know each other, who know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, who know when we can resort to one rather than another.

For him, “the machine is running” and “fear has changed sides”. He noted that “armed bandits are retreating everywhere in the territory where our fighting forces set foot. Let them take it for granted, the firepower of our army will grow even more, and even exponentially, once all the orders have been delivered,” he promised.

“In the future, Burkina will have to become an impregnable citadel for all those who dream of undermining its integrity, its security and its sovereignty. It will also be up to the Burkinabè to know how to protect and defend their army,” he concluded.
