Burkina Government Grants National Ward Status to 63 Orphans of Fallen Security Forces

OUAGADOUGOU — The Burkinabè government officially recognized 63 orphaned children of the Defense and Security Forces, who died in the fight against terrorism, as wards of the Nation on Wednesday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the government adopted a decree that confers the rights of wards of the Burkinabè Nation upon the children who lost their parents in terrorist attacks. This legal status is intended to provide these children with various entitlements to support their welfare and education as they cope with the loss of their parents.

The decree is a part of the government’s commitment to support families affected by the ongoing security challenges and to honor the sacrifices made by its servicemen and women. This recognition also underscores the nation’s obligation to look after the children of those who have fallen defending the country.
