Burkina Faso’s Tourism Sector Catalyzes Revolutionary Momentum with Citizen and Tourism Day

Ouagadougou: The Association of Professionals of the National Tourism Administration in Burkina Faso (PRO-TOUR/BF) spearheaded a Citizen and Tourism Day in Ouagadougou under the theme "Tourism and Patriotic Commitment." This initiative aims to support the ongoing revolutionary momentum in Burkina Faso by promoting the country's rich cultural heritage.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was orchestrated by PRO-TOUR with the intent to contribute to the revolutionary dynamic emphasized by the President of Burkina Faso. Yaya Kawolobou, the president of PRO-TOUR, highlighted the importance of tourism in the revolutionary process. He noted, "The President of Burkina Faso said that we are in a dynamic of revolution where all sectors must be in revolution. It is in this sense that we thought about what tourism can do to support the revolutionary dynamic."

The event's theme, "Tourism and Patriotic Commitment," aligns with the broader vision of Burkina Faso's authorities. Brice Flavien Ou©draogo, the representative of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, emphasized the strategic importance of tourism development as a priority for the government. He assured that the tourism department is dedicated to supporting initiatives that bolster national progress and historical understanding.

Participants of the Citizen and Tourist Day had the opportunity to visit the Army Museum and engage in a panel discussion that was organized around three sub-themes. Adama Siguir©, vice-president in charge of development of the National Commission of the Confederation of Sahel States, spoke on the sub-theme "Security, brand image and tourism integration in the AES area." Siguir© underscored the role of tourism in fostering self-discovery, community building, and social cohesion. He further articulated that tourism could be pivotal in establishing security networks and enhancing collaboration within the AES region.
