Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso’s Security Minister, Mahamadou Sana, has announced the seizure of 160 tricycles and 900 Aloba-type motorcycles, which were intercepted at the Ivorian border on April 7, 2025. These vehicles were reportedly on their way to Korhogo, a city in the Republic of C´te d’Ivoire.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister revealed that no complaints have been lodged with the authorities regarding this seizure. Initial investigations suggest that these vehicles were intended for high-risk areas and were part of a scheme to finance terrorism in the sub-region, as stated by the Minister of Security.
Mahamadou Sana emphasized that all individuals and legal entities implicated in this case will face legal consequences. “Yesterday we raised awareness, today it’s repression,” the minister declared, underscoring the government’s firm stance against terrorism.
Furthermore, the seized vehicles will be allocated to defense and security units actively combating terrorism, enhancing their operational capabilities. Minister Sana commended the swift and professional actions of the units involved in this significant operation.
The press conference, where these announcements were made, took place on Friday, May 23, in Ouagadougou.
