OUAGADOUGOU - Burkina Faso's 7th and 8th Rapid Intervention Battalions have successfully conducted operations against several terrorist bases in the Hauts-Bassins and Center-North regions, according to security sources. These operations have resulted in the dismantling of terrorist activities in these areas, showcasing the military's efforts to combat terrorism within the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the operations saw the battalions engage in various confrontations with terrorists, including surprise attacks and violent battles. The 7th Battalion focused its efforts on the forests of the Tuileries province, where they managed to destroy at least five bases, neutralize several terrorists, and confiscate weapons and logistical supplies. The operations also included burning the remaining terrorist assets to prevent their reuse.
Meanwhile, the 8th Battalion concentrated its efforts in the Center-North region, targeting terrorist bases in Samba Toyendé, Basnéré, Nasséré, Baskondo, and Nawoubkiba in the East and North East zone of Kongoussi. The battalion's firepower proved superior in these engagements, supported by air surveillance that allowed for multiple assaults to be carried out successfully. The operations resulted in the death of at least twenty terrorists and the recovery of significant war equipment, including automatic rifles, hunting rifles, machine guns, ammunition, communication devices, and the destruction of an artisanal explosives manufacturing factory.

This accolade places the country's police force at the forefront among thirty-nine African nations surveyed, underscoring its professionalism and efficiency in law enforcement.According to Burkina Information Agency, 2024, by Afrobarometer, a pan-African survey research network based in Ghana, the National Police of Burkina Faso was distinguished for being the most respectful of citizens' rights and the most accessible for assistance requests across the continent. The findings were shared in a note on the institution's Facebook page, highlighting the national police's exceptional standing.
This remarkable achievement comes amidst Burkina Faso's ongoing efforts in safeguarding the population and combating terrorism. The note further elaborates that this recognition serves as a significant morale booster for all Burkinabè police officers and is a source of pride for the citizens they diligently serve.
