Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Highlights Sports Sector as Key Growth Driver

Burkina faso: During his speech on the state of the nation, delivered Friday in the National Assembly, the Burkinabe Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, declared that "the sports sector is a lever for growth."

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted recent achievements in the sports sector, including the completion and certification by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of the August 4 Stadium, the ongoing construction of the Leguema Stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso, and the successful organization of the 37th edition of the Tour du Faso cycling race, which saw Burkina Faso emerge victorious.

The Prime Minister also congratulated athletes who, in 2025, secured 481 medals in 108 international competitions. He emphasized the broader role of communication, culture, and tourism as essential contributors to resilience, national unity, and international influence.

Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo noted that the reforms and infrastructure improvements reflect Burkina Faso's ambition to stand as a proud and independent nation. He announced plans for the continued development of the sports sector, including the construction of five sports academies in 2026.
