Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla explained on Thursday that recent attempts to destabilize the government of Burkina Faso are driven by external forces upset by the country’s economic reforms.
According to Burkina Information Agency, these destabilization efforts are being carried out by “imperialists” whose interests are threatened by the economic sovereignty policies introduced by Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s administration. Speaking during a flag-raising ceremony in Ouagadougou, Kyélem stated that reforms aimed at diversifying partnerships and promoting local industries have disrupted the financial interests of these external actors.
Kyélem pointed to Burkina’s promotion of traditional textiles and local foods, which, he argued, challenges international industrial markets and has sparked opposition from those who stand to lose profits. He emphasized the importance of resilience and unity among Burkinabe citizens in resisting these attempts to undermine national sovereignty.
“But I am convinced that if we hold firm, if we are aware of what we are doing and where we are going, we should be able to resist all this,” Kyélem concluded.
