OUAGADOUGOU — Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of Burkina Faso, disclosed on Tuesday that a conspiracy involving the country’s security forces (FDS) and terrorists, aimed at executing targeted assassinations against transitional leaders, has been thwarted.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the plot, which has been under surveillance for several weeks, was revealed during a flag-raising ceremony at the presidency. Captain Traoré reported that the scheme included plans for a "final assault" by recruiting insiders within the FDS to carry out attacks against him and his collaborators. He stated that multiple arrests have been made, including members of the FDS found to be in collusion with terrorists and external officers orchestrating the plan.
The President emphasized that the alleged assassination attempts are part of broader destabilizing efforts marked by misinformation and economic warfare. He reassured the public that the situation is under control and called for calm among the citizens of Burkina Faso.
