OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — Emile Zerbo, the Minister in charge of Territorial Decentralization in Burkina Faso, has announced a plan to reinvigorate the disciplinary council to effectively sanction agents who have committed faults. This declaration comes as part of the minister’s broader strategy to enhance administrative efficiency.
According to Burkina Information Agency, who also holds the portfolio of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security, the revitalization of the disciplinary council is aimed at ensuring that agents are held accountable for their errors. The announcement was made during a New Year greeting ceremony held in Ouagadougou on Tuesday. Mahamoudou Sana, the Minister in charge of Security, was also present at the event.
Mr. Zerbo emphasized the need for a more efficient administration, highlighting the fight against corruption and administrative slowness in processing cases as key areas of focus. He expressed his commitment to addressing the various inadequacies experienced by his department to set an example for others.
For 2024, the priorities of the department will center on combating all forms of insecurity, continuing the reforms initiated in 2023, and innovating and modernizing working methods and tools. The minister’s statement reflects a concerted effort to improve governance and administrative processes in the country.
In a gesture acknowledging dedication and service, the minister awarded certificates of recognition to 23 retired agents. Additionally, seven structures within the department were recognized for their contributions. Four received letters of thanks, and three were awarded certificates of recognition for their commitment to the reconquest of the national territory.
Furthermore, Emile Zerbo extended his health wishes to the staff and urged them to be peacemakers, indicating a holistic approach to fostering a positive and productive work environment within the ministry.
