Burkina Faso’s Internal Security Forces Plant Over 300 Trees at Sourgoubila Prison Production Center

KOURWÉOGO — The Burkinabè Internal Security Forces planted more than 300 trees at the Sourgoubila prison production center on Saturday, marking the 10th edition of their annual reforestation day.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event reflects the cohesion and fraternity between the personnel and the Defense and Security Forces. He expressed gratitude towards the partners who supported the reforestation effort and explained the rationale behind the establishment of the prison production site. The site is part of a broader initiative by the government to involve individuals in conflict with the law in productive activities, aiming at food self-sufficiency and better integration into society.

The reforestation day was co-sponsored by Azaratou Sondo/Nignan, the general director of the umbrella organization of credit unions in Burkina, represented by her deputy, Aryeonne Innocent Somé. Somé emphasized the commitment of the credit unions to supporting initiatives that improve living conditions and address climate change impacts by restoring plant cover.
