OUAGADOUGOU — Dr. Issa Ouédraogo, the Secretary General of Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Health, announced on Thursday that the digitalization of the health sector is key to achieving the ministry’s strategic goals. The declaration came during the inaugural ordinary session of the 2024 e-Health committee in Ouagadougou, highlighting the significant role that digital technology will play in enhancing health services across the nation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the digital transformation will act as a catalyst in realizing the Ministry of Health’s vision. The e-Health committee, which was established as a platform for dialogue and coordination, aims to ensure a coherent and sustainable digital shift in the health sector. “Digital transformation constitutes a lever for achieving the vision of the Ministry of Health,” stated Dr. Ouédraogo, emphasizing the transformative potential of integrating advanced technologies in healthcare management.
During the two-day session, committee members are set to review various digital health interventions, address prevailing challenges, and outline future perspectives for the sector’s digital overhaul. Additionally, they will evaluate the ministry’s current digital health environment and the progress of ongoing major digital initiatives.
This strategic move is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and reach of healthcare services in Burkina Faso, setting a model for digital health advancements in the region.
