Burkina Faso’s ‘e-laafi’ Project Highlighted at Morocco Tech Event

ESSAOUIRA, MOROCCO — The innovative Burkinabè project ‘e-laafi’, designed to enhance patient care by reducing medical errors and facilitating data sharing, was featured prominently at the first regional edition of ‘Seeds for the Future’ in Essaouira, Morocco.



According to Burkina Information Agency, a participant from Burkina Faso, ‘e-laafi’ was presented during the event, which concluded on July 8 with a Tech4Good competition and a certificate ceremony for attendees. “I am convinced that if this project is implemented, it will contribute to improving the health of our populations,” Compaoré remarked. He also noted the personal and professional growth he experienced through the event. “I learned a lot about ICT and digital innovation. I met high-level professors and experts with whom I had very instructive discussions,” he added.



The event served not only as a platform for showcasing innovations but also as an opportunity for participants to enhance their skills in project setup and business plan development. Issoufou Nikièma, a doctoral student in Artificial Intelligence at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, emphasized the depth of learning achieved, “These are concepts that are not new, but that we had the chance to explore in depth during this week.”



Networking was another key benefit highlighted by the participants. Nikièma praised the connections made among attendees from various African countries, suggesting that these relationships would be beneficial in the future. Désiré Dao, another participant, shared insights into the leadership skills and team spirit fostered by the collaborative environment at the forum.



The event also offered a cultural exchange for those who had never traveled outside Burkina Faso, including Dao, who appreciated the opportunity to explore Morocco and its culture.



Dr. Pousséni Bakouan, representing the Ministry of Digital Transition of Burkina Faso, expressed gratitude towards Huawei for organizing the initiative, which helped young participants strengthen their technological and entrepreneurial capabilities. “We are grateful to Huawei for this opportunity which allowed young people to strengthen their technological and entrepreneurial skills,” he stated, encouraging the participants to continue striving for excellence.



The program concluded with the announcement that Morocco and Ethiopia would advance to the global final of the Tech4Good competition in China in 2025, after a thorough review of the 28 projects by a jury of eminent experts.
