OUAGADOUGOU — Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, Burkina Faso’s Minister of State and Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, expressed strong support for his department’s reforestation initiative during a tree planting ceremony held in Ouagadougou on Saturday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative not only contributes to greening the department’s courtyard but also aligns with the broader government vision that every institution should have its own grove. “We know that trees are life, and despite the tasks we have to accomplish, we think about planting trees,” he stated during the event.

The reforestation effort is part of a larger environmental push across the country, which was highlighted during the National Tree Day inaugurated on June 22 in Bobo-Dioulasso by President Ibrahim Traoré. Brigadier General Coulibaly emphasized the defense sector’s commitment to this cause, noting, “We are going to plant as many plants as possible,” underscoring the strategic importance of environmental sustainability in national defense and institutional practices.
