Burkina Faso’s Captain Traoré Commits to Advancing Food Self-Sufficiency in 2024

In Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has announced his commitment to intensify efforts towards achieving food self-sufficiency in the country. This declaration was made as part of his New Year’s message, focusing on furthering and actualizing various initiatives started in 2023.



According to Burkina Information Agency, numerous initiatives aimed at food self-sufficiency were launched in the previous year. In 2024, these efforts, including the presidential initiative for food self-sufficiency and the agro-pastoral offensive by the Ministry of Agriculture, will be deepened and fully implemented. Captain Traoré highlighted the ongoing dry campaign under these initiatives, aiming to achieve or closely approach food self-sufficiency in 2024. Acknowledging the challenge this goal presents, he urged the people of Burkina Faso to actively participate and leverage state support to meet this critical objective.
