London - Léopold T. Bonkoungou, Burkina Faso's ambassador to the United Kingdom, formally presented his letters of credence to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony took place on Thursday, May 16, 2024, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
During the event, King Charles III conveyed warm greetings to President Ibrahim Traoré and the people of Burkina Faso, acknowledging the strong ties of friendship and cooperation with the United Kingdom. The communications services of the Ministry further detailed that Ambassador Bonkoungou discussed bilateral cooperation topics and the current security challenges in Burkina Faso and the broader Sahel region. Additionally, Bonkoungou met with the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs and Development Office’s director responsible for Sahel development issues. The United Kingdom is the fourth country where Ambassador Bonkoungou has presented his credentials, following Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
