Burkina Faso to Resume Public Sector Recruitment with New Oversight

OUAGADOUGOU – The Burkina Faso government has announced the resumption of public sector recruitment, which had been previously suspended, now under the oversight of a newly established interministerial commission.

According to Burkina Informational Agency, Bassolma Bazié, a circular issued on August 8, 2024, marks the end of the suspension and outlines the new recruitment process. The government, during the suspension period, reportedly took steps to ensure fair access to public jobs for all eligible Burkinabè. The recruitment, which had been paused since April 2022 due to issues affecting the public service’s integrity, will now be managed by an interministerial commission set up by the Head of Government. This change aims to address previous criticisms related to transparency and fairness in the recruitment process, particularly for positions that arise from specific or urgent needs outside the usual competitive examinations.
