OUAGADOUGOU: President Ibrahim Traor© of Burkina Faso announced on Tuesday plans to inaugurate several factories in 2025 as part of an initiative to process raw materials locally and enhance export capabilities. This development aims to strengthen the national economy and reduce dependency on food imports.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the President revealed during his New Year message that numerous factories, some with foundations already laid, will become operational in the coming year. The announcement underscores Burkina Faso’s commitment to boosting its industrial sector and achieving economic self-sufficiency.
Captain Traor© emphasized the significance of local processing for the well-being of Burkinab© citizens. He highlighted the potential economic benefits, stating that such efforts would bolster the domestic economy and decrease reliance on imported food products.
In 2024, the country saw the inauguration of several factories, including tomato processing facilities in Bobo-Dioulasso and Yako, indicating progress in the government’s industrialization strategy.
