Burkina Faso Students Explore National Symbols and Honorary Titles at Grand Chancellery


OUAGADOUGOU – On Friday morning, students from Aube Nouvelle Bobo University visited the Grand Chancellery in Ouagadougou to learn about Burkina Faso’s state symbols and various honorary distinctions. The visit was designed to deepen their understanding of the nation’s institutional heritage and civic honors.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Grand Chancellor of the Burkinabè orders, the event reflected the young generation’s keen interest in the operational aspects and foundational elements of Burkina Faso’s republic institutions. He voiced appreciation for the university’s initiative to organize such an educational visit.



During the session, Emmanuel Sorgho, the Secretary General of the Grand Chancellery, discussed the origins and current structure of the Burkinabè orders with the students. These included national orders like the Order of the Stallion and the Burkinabè Order of Merit, and specific distinctions such as the Order of Merit for Rural Development and the Order of Youth Merit and Sports. The presentations also covered the national emblem, coat of arms, anthem, and motto, along with the criteria for receiving these honors and the disciplinary measures for violations.



Michelle Kientega, the president of the law sector at the university, mentioned that the visit allowed students to better understand the symbolic meanings behind the national emblems and the operational procedures of the Grand Chancellery. She noted that such direct engagement helps clarify the roles and significance of these symbols in the context of Burkina Faso’s national identity and governance.



The Grand Chancellor expressed hope that this initiative by Aube Nouvelle University would inspire similar efforts by other educational institutions to foster a broader appreciation and knowledge of Burkina Faso’s state symbols and honorary systems among students.
