Burkina Faso Stallions Triumph Over Djibouti Sharks in World Cup Qualifier

El Jadida: Burkina Faso’s ambassador for sport and former international, Charles Kaboré, expressed his delight over the Burkina Faso Stallions’ victory against the Djibouti Sharks on Friday evening. Speaking to AIB, Kaboré praised the team’s effort, emphasizing that they “fought and demonstrated their talent” at the El Abdi Stadium.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Stallions secured a 4-1 win during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match held at the El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida. Burkina Faso’s goals were netted by Josué Tiendrébéogo (12th minute), captain Bertrand Traoré (33rd minute), Mohamed Zoungrana (47th minute), and Franck Lassina Traoré (67th minute). Djibouti managed to score a consolation goal towards the end of the match with a penalty converted by S. Akinbinu in the 88th minute.

Kaboré highlighted the significance of the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau, stating, “If we manage to take three points there, it will be beneficial for the future.” He urged the team to remain focused
and rectify any mistakes for the next challenge.

Appointed as Burkina Faso’s ambassador for sport since November 2024, Kaboré’s role involves collaborating with the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the President’s authority. His responsibilities include supporting Burkinabe positions on major sports issues and mobilizing the diplomatic network for sporting events in Burkina Faso. Additionally, Kaboré is tasked with fostering international sports cooperation and enhancing the region’s appeal for sports investments.
