Ouagadougou: Staff at the Presidency of Faso have participated in an awareness training session on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The event, organized by the Coordination Unit of the Committee for the Fight against AIDS and STIs, aimed to enhance disease prevention efforts, with a particular focus on AIDS, which remains a significant issue in the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Herve Bationo, coordinator of the Presidency of Burkina Faso's Committee for the Fight Against AIDS and STIs, emphasized that the training is a key component of their annual action plan. The session included activities led by experts in the multipurpose hall of Kossyam, located in Ouaga 2000, to educate civilian and military personnel about HIV/AIDS and STIs.
During a press conference at the presidential palace in Kossyam, Bationo highlighted that the institution also organized a blood drive in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS) and the Presidential Medical Center, collecting around one hundred units of blood.
Bationo elaborated on the broader objective of the conference, which is to educate the staff on the mechanics, transmission, and prevention of STIs and HIV/AIDS. The endeavor aims to empower personnel with knowledge to protect themselves effectively.
Dr. Raymond Ouoba, deputy coordinator of CILS/PF, added that the exchange of information during these conferences encourages the adoption of protective measures and improved behavior in both professional and personal contexts. He noted that the participants engaged in educational sessions covering topics such as HIV/AIDS, STIs, high blood pressure, and workplace stress.
The coordinator expressed gratitude to the authorities for their ongoing support of the initiative, acknowledging the challenges posed by limited financial resources.
