Burkina Faso/SNC 2026: Endeavour Mining Showcases Local Community Expertise at National Culture Week

Bobo-dioulasso: Endeavour Mining, a prominent player in the mining industry, has used the 22nd edition of the National Culture Week (SNC-2026) to spotlight the craftsmanship and expertise of cooperatives from the regions surrounding its Hound© and Mana mining sites. This initiative aims to provide these communities with increased visibility and opportunities to boost their income.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, which is taking place in Bobo-Dioulasso, sees Endeavour Mining reaffirming its dedication to cultural heritage and local economic development through the presence of its country director for Burkina Faso, Souleymane Boly. The multinational, a consistent partner of the event for three years running, has transformed its exhibition stand into a showcase for the local cooperatives, highlighting their traditional skills in areas such as agri-food processing and handicrafts.

Mr. Boly emphasized the importance of culture as central to community cohesion, justifying the company's significant involvement in this cultural gathering. The initiative not only promotes cultural visibility but also aims to structure these sectors for sustainable economic independence, particularly for women's groups within these communities.

Highlighting the broader impact of their support, Mr. Boly noted the example of locally produced soap now being consumed by Endeavour Mining staff, illustrating the potential for these activities to outlast the mine's operational life. Representatives from cooperatives such as Sebapani of Koho and Gnongond¨me have expressed gratitude for the diverse support that has helped them achieve self-reliance through income-generating projects.

Beyond showcasing local craftsmanship, Endeavour Mining is also promoting artistic troupes from the villages in its operational zones, providing them a stage to perform before a national audience. This strategic commitment underscores the company's intention to solidify its "social license to operate" within Burkina Faso, aligning with national economic, social, and cultural priorities.

Mr. Boly encouraged the people of Burkina Faso to actively engage with the biennial cultural event, urging them to explore the talents and entrepreneurial spirit of local communities. He stressed the importance of support from both citizens and businesses like Endeavour Mining to contribute to the nation's development and cultural influence.
