Ouagadougou: The National Coordination for the Control of Police Forces (CONACFP) recorded a 36.8% decrease in complaints and denunciations related to racketeering and other bad practices on the roads in 2025, announced the national coordinator, Colonel Kanou Coulibaly, at a press conference in Ouagadougou on Wednesday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, 297 calls were recorded in 2025 compared to 470 in 2024, a decrease of 173 calls, exceeding the 25% reduction target set by the Ministry of Security. This performance is attributed to a set of measures aimed at reducing racketeering, harassment, and corruption on the roads, including the reorganization of checkpoints, the regulation of practices by circulars, as well as the strengthening of controls and sanctions.
The national coordinator also highlighted the awareness-raising activities carried out for the benefit of agents and users, as well as the reforms aimed at improving the quality of road control and strengthening trust between security forces and citizens. Established in 2016, CONACFP's mission is to combat corruption, monitor the quality of services at traffic control points, and receive complaints from road users. It can be contacted via the toll-free number 1020, through WhatsApp (+226) 70 20 07 32, or directly at its headquarters.
The new measures implemented by the National Coordination for the Control of Police Forces (CONACFP) are part of a reform effort aimed at improving practices on the roads. Their main objective is to reduce opportunities for extortion, harassment, and corruption, while improving the quality of roadside checks carried out by officers.
Through these actions, CONACFP also intends to restore and strengthen trust between security forces and road users, by establishing a more transparent, professional, and rule-respecting environment. While praising the efforts of partners and road transport stakeholders, the official called on users to respect the highway code and to report any abnormal behavior.
Colonel Kanou Coulibaly reaffirmed the structure's commitment to continue the fight against bad practices, in line with the zero-tolerance policy advocated by the authorities, in order to guarantee the safety and fluidity of road traffic.
