Ouagadougou: The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, has announced that the country remains attractive for tourism. During his address on the state of the nation, he emphasized the positive developments in the sector.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted that arrivals in tourist accommodation establishments have increased by 1.3% compared to the previous year, with domestic tourists making up a significant 78% of this demographic. Additionally, the number of visitors to tourist sites saw a substantial increase of 177% in 2025, attributed in part to new attractions.
The Prime Minister pointed to the inauguration of the Thomas Sankara mausoleum and the monthly military tribute ceremony "Sankara lives on" as key factors drawing tourists. These events occur every first Thursday of the month and have contributed to the sector's growth. Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo also noted the importance of communication, culture, tourism, and sport as vectors of resilience, national unity, and international influence.
