NEW YORK — During a pivotal meeting on the margins of the UN General Assembly, Burkina Faso engaged in strategic discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to deepen their collaboration and address pressing economic challenges. The session focused on revisiting and potentially strengthening the cooperation between the two parties.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Burkinabe delegation, which included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister Delegate in charge of the budget, emphasized the necessity for additional financial support to overcome existing economic hurdles while maintaining ongoing reforms aimed at securing sustainable financial discipline and economic stability. Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré highlighted the country’s resilience in maintaining financial discipline and curbing inflation amidst various adversities.

The dialogue also touched upon Burkina Faso's ability to manage public expenditures effectively and sustain economic performance despite the ongoing fight against terrorism, contributing to a controlled inflationary environment.
