Burkina Faso Seeks Chinese Investment in Diverse Sectors

BEIJING — In a strategic move to bolster economic ties, the Burkinabe Minister for Cooperation, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, urged Chinese investors to explore diverse business opportunities in Burkina Faso. Speaking at a China-Burkina Faso economic promotion conference in Beijing on Monday, Minister Traoré highlighted the nation’s potential in sectors including agriculture, health, mining, and more.

According to Burkina Information Agency, organized by the Embassy of Burkina Faso in China, showcased investment prospects in fields such as energy, infrastructure, real estate, transportation, and tourism. The gathering also provided insights into Burkina Faso’s regulatory and economic landscape, emphasizing an open commercial environment and abundant arable land. “I invite Chinese investors to experience Burkina Faso and the great opportunities it offers,” the minister stated during the conference, indicating a welcoming stance towards international capital.

The conference, part of broader efforts to attract foreign investment, was marked by presentations on Burkina Faso’s inflation status and its regulatory framework governing investments. Ambassador Daouda Bitie reinforced the message, pointing to the country’s accessibility and the continuous influx of global businessmen. He also noted the demographic advantage of a youthful population, an appealing factor for potential Chinese firms considering establishment in the African nation.

This diplomatic and economic outreach coincides with the upcoming forum on China-Africa cooperation, scheduled from September 4 to 6, where further discussions on partnership opportunities will continue. A Burkinabe delegation is currently in Beijing to participate in this forum, seeking to strengthen the bonds and facilitate mutual growth between Burkina Faso and China.
