According to Burkina Information Agency, the state daily Sidwaya headlined its coverage with "October 15, 1987: Immortal Thomas Sankara," highlighting how 37 years post his assassination, Captain Sankara continues to be a significant figure in the consciousness of Burkinabe youth and across Africa. The private newspaper, Le Pays, emphasized Sankara's enduring impact, quoting the Secretary General of the Trade Union of Workers of Burkina Faso, Ernest Abdoulaye Ouédraogo, who remarked on Sankara's profound love for his people. Further insights from L'Observateur Paalga revealed a sustained interest in Sankara's ideologies, referring to it as a "Sankaraist revival." The newspaper noted ongoing challenges in finding leaders who embody Sankara's ideals of integrity and asceticism . On a different note, L'Observateur Paalga also reported on the national efforts against AIDS and STIs, stating that more than 115 million CFA francs were recently mobilized to aid various organizations in combating these health issues. The ceremony for the presentation of the funds was led by Captain Anderson Médah, chief of staff to the President of Faso. Sidwaya detailed the recipients of the funds amounting to 115 million 529 thousand FCFA, which included the Ministerial Committees for the Fight against AIDS of the Ministries in charge of Defense and National Education, the National Council of the Informal Economy, and the Association Action citoyenne et communautaire pour la résistance et développement of the Centre-North.
