Burkina faso: "On the land of Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly, Philippe Zinda Kabore, Nazi Boni and Thomas Isidore No«l Sankara, there are women and men standing up to lead the fight for the freedom and sovereignty of our people," said Burkinabe Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo to the deputies on Friday morning.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to consolidate the historic advances on all fronts of the People's Progressive Revolution under the leadership of President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. He called on the Burkinabe people to remain mobilized and vigilant to prevent the restoration of any form of neo-colonial order.
The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of reminding imperialism that the people of Burkina Faso stand tall, free, dignified, and upright, to lead the fight for their freedom and sovereignty. He invoked the legacy of key historical figures such as Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly, who served as the first Vice-President and later President of the Governing Council of Upper Volta, and Philippe Zinda Kabore, one of the first parliament members elected when the territory was part of Ivory Coast.
Nazi Boni was also highlighted as a significant historical figure, known for his role as a member of parliament and President of the Territorial Assembly of Upper Volta. He is recognized as the country's first writer after independence. Thomas Sankara, often referred to as the father of the Burkinabe Revolution, was celebrated for his role in renaming Upper Volta to Burkina Faso and initiating significant political, economic, and social transformations.
The Prime Minister urged all Burkinabe, both domestically and abroad, to honor the legacy of their predecessors by continuing the fight and remaining committed to the national struggle. He encouraged them to work together with confidence, courage, and determination to reclaim the national territory and build the Nation.
Expressing his conviction, the Prime Minister stated that everything is possible if the people of Burkina Faso dream big, dare, and remain resilient in the face of adversity. He echoed the sentiment of Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly, who in 1958 declared that "nothing is impossible for the man of will animated by great courage."
