Burkina Faso Prime Minister Announces Metro Pre-Feasibility Studies for Major Cities

Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso's Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, announced during his state of the nation address that pre-feasibility studies for a metro system in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso will commence in 2026. This development aims to enhance urban mobility in the country's two main urban centers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted that alongside the metro studies, the government has expanded urban mobility initiatives by opening new bus lines after acquiring 530 buses. This move is part of a broader strategy to improve transportation infrastructure in Burkina Faso.

He further mentioned advancements in air transport, including the acquisition of a new aircraft for Air Burkina and the establishment of the Societe des Aeroports du Faso (SAFA). SAFA is tasked with leading a structural reorganization of air transport across the nation.
