Burkina Faso President Traoré Targets Investment Companies for Unfair PracticesLocal Foundation Provides School Supplies and Leather Shoes to KCPE Students

Ouagadougou - Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of the Transition in Burkina Faso, has announced intentions to scrutinize personnel placement companies for their employment practices. This move comes in response to concerns about the disparities in wages and lack of proper social security declarations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Traoré expressed his disapproval of the practices observed in some investment companies. He highlighted instances where companies received 300 thousand FCFA as salary for an employee but only paid 80 thousand FCFA to the individual, failing to declare these earnings to the Social Security fund. The President repeatedly questioned the fairness of such practices, likening them to 'slavery'. This initiative marks a significant step by the President in addressing labor issues and ensuring fair treatment of workers in Burkina Faso.

Meru County, Kenya: students from Abothuguchi ward who have completed their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) are receiving a significant boost as they transition to secondary school. This support includes leather shoes and a variety of basic school items, provided by the Patrick Muthuri Foundation.

According to Kenya News Agency, the founder of the foundation and ward representative in the County Assembly of Meru, this initiative was launched to address the discomfort students face when using plastic-based shoes, especially during hotter seasons. Muthuri, inspired by President Willam Ruto's focus on educational issues, emphasized the importance of replacing plastic shoes with leather ones for students entering Form One.

The foundation's efforts extend beyond footwear. They have committed to donating school shoes and shoe polish to all secondary school students in Abogeta West. This move aligns with their objective of ensuring a 100% transition rate from primary to secondary education, which is expected to enhance literacy levels in the region.

Further supporting President Ruto's initiative, Muthuri highlighted the use of local shoe manufacturers to provide genuine leather shoes for new secondary school students. This approach not only benefits the students but also plays a significant role in bolstering the local economy.

In a bid to encourage academic excellence, Muthuri announced that the foundation would award scholarships to students who excel in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams. He called on parents to actively support their children by monitoring their academic and behavioral progress in school, emphasizing the importance of discipline both in and out of the educational environment.
