Burkina Faso Pledges Full Sovereignty Amid Global Challenges

GENEVA — Minister of State in charge of Labor, Bassolma Bazié, affirmed Burkina Faso’s commitment to achieving full sovereignty amid global and domestic challenges, speaking at the International Labor Conference in Geneva on Monday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Bazié underscored the nation’s resolve to overcome what he described as a predatory war of terrorism since 2015, aimed at plundering Burkina Faso’s resources. He criticized the international community’s silence and alleged complicity of certain states, declaring that Burkina’s fight against terrorism is crucial for its existential survival. Bazié emphasized that true national survival hinges not on ratified conventions or membership in international bodies, but on the country’s capacity to defend its sovereignty. He reminded that Burkina Faso joined the International Labor Organization in 1960 and has ratified 44 labor conventions to date, aiming to uphold social justice.
