Burkina Faso: Physical Implementation of Education and Training Activities to Increase to 93.19% by 2025

Burkina faso: The education and training sector in Burkina Faso is projected to see a significant improvement in its physical implementation rate, reaching 93.19% by the end of 2025. This development marks a notable increase from the previous year, where the rate stood at 78.85%. Financial execution rates are also expected to progress, achieving 88.24% compared to 89.98% in 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the 2025 Annual Performance Report was presented at the Education and Training Sectoral Dialogue Framework (CSD-EF), highlighting these achievements. Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, Minister of Basic Education and President of the CSD-EF, emphasized the notable improvements in the sector over the 2021-2025 period. Key accomplishments include distributing school kits to 564,800 students in internally displaced areas and opening 700 new preschool facilities.

Further achievements mentioned by Professor Zoungrana consist of constructing 13 science high schools and ensuring patriotic immersion for 95.52% of those admitted to the baccalaureate. The training of 7,341 internally displaced persons, widows, and wounded members of the defense and security forces (FDS) was also highlighted. Additionally, academic years were normalized in 92.5% of fields.

Despite these advancements, challenges remain. The focus continues to be on providing equitable and inclusive access to quality education and training that meets economic needs, enhancing education system governance, and integrating various subsystems. The sectoral dialogue framework involves ministries related to education, social partners, local authorities, the private sector, and civil society.

Professor Zoungrana stated that the sector review aims to examine and validate the 2025 Annual Performance Report, which details the outcomes of actions undertaken throughout the year and the consolidated results for 2021-2025. The review also seeks to consolidate achievements and strengthen stakeholder synergy to position education as a catalyst for social and economic transformation.

The meeting also serves as a platform to review the Sectoral Action Plan for Education and Training Development (PASD-EF) 2026-2028, which is part of the 2026-2030 Recovery Plan.
