Ouagadougou - Burkina Faso has successfully raised 74 billion CFA francs for its Patriotic Support Fund as of June 10, 2024, announced by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Foresight, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the fund, which supports the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland and auxiliary army units, collected 43 billion CFA francs in the ongoing second quarter alone. This total represents 74% of the targeted funds for the year, potentially exceeding the government's goal of 100 billion CFA francs by year-end.
The Patriotic Support Fund, established to assist military auxiliaries in weapon handling, first aid, and human rights, received 31 billion CFA francs in the first quarter of 2024. This follows a total collection of 99 billion CFA francs in 2023, with 89.95% of that amount executed for related expenditures. The recent contribution includes 58 million CFA francs donated by the staff and partners of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Opening Up, reflecting a significant community and governmental commitment to national defense efforts.
