Burkina Faso Ministry of Transport Issues Rainy Season Safety Guidelines

OUAGADOUGOU - The Ministry of Transport in Burkina Faso issued a set of guidelines on Monday for citizens to follow during the rainy season, emphasizing road safety amid weather challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the guidelines are a response to the seasonal increase in road hazards, such as reduced tire grip, decreased visibility, and flooded roadways. Citizens are advised to avoid taking shelter under interchanges and trees during heavy rain and to wait for conditions to improve before resuming travel. The Ministry also stressed the importance of adhering to the highway code, being vigilant about the road and other users, ensuring clear visibility, and adjusting driving speed to match road conditions.
