Burkina Faso Ministers Address Security and Resilience in Oudalan

GOROM-GOROM — In a significant outreach effort, the Minister of Humanitarian Action, Nandy Somé Diallo, along with the Minister Delegated to Animal Resources, Doctor Amadou Dicko, engaged with the residents of Oudalan province to discuss the national security challenges and encourage community resilience.

According to Burkina Information Agency, their visit was aimed at briefing the local populations on the broader national circumstances, offering government support, and hearing the community's concerns firsthand. They emphasized the importance of resilience in combating the adverse impacts of the ongoing security issues in the Sahel region. The meeting, which took place in Gorom-Gorom, involved discussions with what were described as the "vital forces" of the province, encompassing a wide range of community representatives.

The community members expressed their appreciation for the government's initiative, highlighting their pressing issues such as the need for better security on national road No. 3, which links several major towns including Ouagadougou and Dori. They also pointed out the necessity of enhanced security measures to facilitate the safe return of internally displaced persons to their homes, and called for increased support in creating employment opportunities for the youth and women of the region.
