Burkina Faso: MCCAT Partners Praised for Their Contribution to National Sovereignty

Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (MCCAT) held the second edition of the Night of Partners, a ceremony dedicated to recognizing institutional and private partners who support the cultural and communication policy of Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place on the evening of December 27, 2025. The Minister in charge of Communication, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, lauded the strong mobilization of partners, seeing it as proof of their commitment to a sovereign and resilient Burkina Faso. He emphasized the country's engagement alongside Mali and Niger within the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).

The minister highlighted that amid challenges like terrorism and economic and diplomatic hurdles, culture, communication, the arts, and tourism remain vital for national resilience and asserting Burkina Faso's cultural and communicational sovereignty. The support from partners has facilitated several major cultural and artistic events, including the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), the National Culture Week (SNC), and the Ouagadougou International Book Fair (FILO), among others.

Minister Ouedraogo pointed out that these events demonstrate Burkina Faso's cultural vitality and its ability to persevere through adversity, projecting a positive image of the country internationally. He called for a sincere, sustainable partnership based on complementarity, aligning with the pan-African vision endorsed by the ESA countries.

The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates of recognition to several partners. Issouf Kassoga, head of communications for the Zind Naaba Hotels group, expressed satisfaction on behalf of the beneficiaries and reaffirmed the group's commitment to supporting government initiatives for cultural and tourism development.

In conclusion, the minister urged all partners to mobilize around the upcoming National Culture Week, scheduled from April 25 to May 2, 2026, describing it as a significant cultural event.
