BOBO-DIOULASSO — A crucial meeting of the steering committee for the road rehabilitation project connecting Bobo-Dioulasso to the Ivory Coast border was held to discuss the project’s scope, strategies, and financial plans. This initiative is set to significantly enhance connectivity and economic development in Burkina Faso’s Hauts-Bassins and Cascades regions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of Road Infrastructure in Burkina Faso, the project is essential for capitalizing on the regions’ agricultural, forestry, and pastoral potential, as well as supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. The project includes the rehabilitation of 197 kilometers of main roads, 50 kilometers of rural tracks, 18 kilometers of urban roads, and the construction of vital infrastructure such as toll booths, health centers, and schools aimed at improving living standards and road safety.
Funded by the Burkinabe government along with international support from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), the project is planned to span five years. This development is expected to play a transformative role in enhancing trade and mobility for one of Burkina Faso’s key economic corridors.
