OUAGADOUGOU — Burkina Faso’s Minister of Health, Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, announced a new government initiative to provide free mammography and cervical precancer screening services through mobile clinics across the country. This development follows the adoption of a decree by the Council of Ministers aimed at increasing accessibility to specialized healthcare services.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the introduction of free health services, specifically targeting mammography and screening for precancerous lesions of the cervix, will significantly enhance the financial accessibility of these essential services for the target populations. The decree is part of a broader governmental effort to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare, aligning with the vision of President Ibrahim Traoré. On July 25 of this year, President Traoré facilitated the distribution of 15 mobile clinics equipped with advanced medical technologies, including mammography and ultrasound machines, to public health establishments throughout the country, underlining the government’s commitment to health equity.
