Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB) Reaffirms Its Commitment to National Sovereignty

Ouagadougou: The Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB) has reiterated its dedication to defending national interests, promoting public policies, and fostering cultural dissemination, emphasizing its role as a key information media serving the Burkinabe people.

According to Burkina Information Agency, AIB was established in 1964 as Agence Voltaque de Presse with the status of an office endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. Over its 61-year history, AIB has experienced numerous transformations but truly embraced its mission during the Democratic and Popular Revolution of 1984 and recently with Captain Ibrahim Traor©'s administration. AIB stands as a vital structure in defending the country's interests, promoting culture, and disseminating development tools.

Post-independence, Burkinabe leaders opted for a press agency instead of a typical media outlet to serve as a voice for government information dissemination. Initially overshadowed by other media, AIB was reinstated in its role during the 1984 People's Democratic Revolution under Captain Thomas Sankara, becoming the official channel for government information.

President Ibrahim Traor©'s administration has further established AIB as a State Public Establishment, granting it administrative autonomy and reinforcing its position as a wholesale information media. AIB remains committed to its original mission, producing content for media outlets and the Burkinabe public, and evolving with the changing media landscape.

AIB's editorial line has adapted to serve all forms of media, including audiovisual and digital, focusing on providing credible and reliable content amidst the proliferation of false information. It actively promotes Burkinabe state policies, peace, and harmonious coexistence, contributing to national stability.

In the current context of conflict, AIB plays a crucial role alongside those defending the nation. Its staff, driven by patriotism and professionalism, adhere to journalistic ethics and work for Burkina Faso's national interest, sovereignty, peace, and social cohesion.

AIB maintains a clear stance against being a mouthpiece for any organization with ulterior motives or influenced by Western imperialism. It remains unwavering in its commitment to the Burkinabe people, ensuring that its editorial line serves the nation's interests and provides fair and professional information.
