Burkina Faso Inaugurates Second National Gastronomy Promotion Days to Boost Local Cuisine

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo, officially launched the second edition of the National Gastronomy Promotion Days (JPGN) at the National Museum. This event, organized by the Directorate General of Tourism, is a significant part of Burkinabe Heritage Month and aligns with the International Day of Sustainable Gastronomy.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this year’s JPGN is themed “Gastronomic Heritage and Affirmation of National Identity,” aiming to promote local dishes and encourage their incorporation into daily diets. Minister Ou©draogo highlighted that the event seeks to raise awareness among consumers about the importance of integrating local cuisine into their eating habits, thereby allowing all stakeholders in the gastronomic value chain to benefit from their efforts.

The event includes a variety of activities such as an exhibition and sale of local dishes, a museum display of traditional kitchen utensils, children’s workshops, a gastronomic competition focusing on gnon-a traditional Burkinabe dish-and cooking demonstrations. Minister Ou©draogo urged participants to spread the word to boost attendance and participation.

In his address, Minister Ou©draogo also expressed his appreciation to the Director General of Tourism and her team, along with the partners of this edition, which include Nestl© companies through Maggi, Bibi Parc, Afridia Industrie with Malia juices, and other private players in the Burkinabe tourism sector.
