Burkina Faso Implements Free Healthcare Services in Mobile Clinics

OUAGADOUGOU — Burkina Faso's government has introduced free healthcare services within its state-operated mobile clinics, focusing on mammography and screening for precancerous lesions of the cervix. This initiative, confirmed during the latest council of ministers meeting in Ouagadougou, aims to enhance access to essential health services for remote and underserved populations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, this policy is designed to improve financial accessibility to vital healthcare services. The mobile clinics, which were officially deployed by President Captain Ibrahim Traoré on July 25, 2024, were first approved in December 2022. These units are set to operate in villages, rural areas, and the outskirts of cities, offering ultrasound scans, cervical and breast cancer screenings, and child care services. The President emphasized the government's commitment to delivering quality healthcare to every corner of Burkina Faso, highlighting the initiative's goal of reaching the most vulnerable groups.
