Burkina Faso Hosts Football Match to Launch 2025 International Volunteer Day Activities

Ouagadougou: The Director General of the Public Interest Group-National Volunteer Program in Burkina Faso (GIP-PNVB), Djourmite Nestor Noufe, accompanied by the Governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, attended a gala match on Wednesday, December 3 in Ouagadougou, officially marking the launch of the activities of the International Volunteer Day (IVD).

According to Burkina Information Agency, a football match, full of action and emotion, pitted GIP-PNVB against volunteers. After about thirty minutes of play, at the final whistle, the GIP-PNVB team emerged victorious with a score of 1-0.

The Director General of GIP-PNVB, Djourmite Nestor Noufe, stated that after twelve months of hard work, it is important to recharge through sport with all the volunteers and partners. "As they say, a healthy mind in a healthy body, this match will allow staff and volunteers to relax and prepare for 2026, as that year will be pivotal," Mr. Noufe explained.

In addition to football, other sports are planned as part of the International Volunteer Day celebrations. These include board games such as Ludo, Scrabble, petanque, and checkers.

The 2025 edition of International Volunteer Day is under the high patronage of the Prime Minister, His Excellency Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, and will be held from December 3 to 5, 2025, in Ouagadougou under the theme: "The Popular Progressive Revolution: The Role and Contribution of Volunteers."

This 2025 edition will feature a special guest, the Minister of Youth and Sports in charge of Civic Education and Citizenship Development of Mali, Abdoul Kassim Fomba. International Volunteer Day, which takes place on December 5th each year, is a day dedicated to recognizing and promoting the work of volunteers around the world.
